how to remove IBM i-series 1400/2611 case

ThinkPad i-Series 1400 - 2611

 1. Turn off the computer. 
 2. Unplug the AC Adapter and remove the battery. 
 3. Remove the keyboard and the thermal plate.
 4. Move the password switch (SW2, switch 2) from OFF to ON to bypass the
    password. 
    Note: SW2 has four switches, the second upper switch (switch 2) is the 
    password bypass/check switch. Turning the switch to the left (ON position) 
    is "bypass password", the right (OFF position) is "check password". 
 5. Plug in the AC adapter and turn on the system. 
 6. While the ThinkPad logo is being displayed, wait for a beep before 
    pressing F1 to enter the BIOS Utility. 
 7. Select "System Security" from the BIOS Utility main menu and press Enter. 
 8. Set the "Power-On Password" setting to "None" to clear the password. 
 9. Save and exit the BIOS Utility. 
10. Turn off the system and unplug the AC Adapter. 
11. Move the password switch from ON to OFF to enable the password function. 
12. Reinstall the thermal plate and keyboard. 
13. Reinstall the battery pack and plug in the AC Adapter.

 1.Turn notebook completely off and remove all the cables. 
 2.Tilt LCD screen all the back and gently lift off the "I Series" bar 
   above the keyboard. Remove the 2 screws that hold the keyboard in place. 
 3.Directly above the AC Adapter plug is a tab that needs to be pulled 
   out. The AC Adapter plug is located on the back of the IBM TP. 
 4.Gently lift up the keyboard and place it on the palm-rest. 
 5.There is a silver plate covering the HDD. Remove the 3 screws that are 
   securing the silver plate and remove the plate. 
 6.Lift up the HDD out of its compartment. 
 7.Remove the 4 screws that secure the bracket to the HDD. Remove the 
   connector from the HDD and connect it to the new HDD. 
 8.Replace the new HDD into the HDD compartment. 
 9.Replace the silver plate over the HDD and secure it with the 3 screws 
   from step 5. 
10.Replace the keyboard and the 2 screws that secure the keyboard. 
11.Replace "I" Series bar and insert tab back into place. 
12.Replace all cables.
